Surbiton Decca RFC exists to provide enjoyable, inclusive and social rugby that fits around modern life.
Whether you’re a player, volunteer, committee member, referee, coach, supporter or guest, everyone who represents the Club plays a part in creating a welcoming environment.
We ask all members to uphold the following standards.
Respect
Everyone involved with the Club will:
- Treat others with dignity, courtesy and respect.
- Welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, ages and abilities.
- Value teamwork, friendship and sportsmanship.
- Respect match officials, opponents, volunteers and spectators.
- Accept decisions made by referees and Club officials without abuse or intimidation.
Inclusion

Members are expected to:

- Follow reasonable instructions from Club officials.
- Respect Club property and facilities.
- Drink alcohol responsibly where it is present.
- Never engage in violence, threatening behaviour or abusive language.

Social Media
Members are ambassadors for Surbiton Decca RFC.
When using social media, members should:
- Treat others respectfully.
- Avoid abusive, offensive or discriminatory comments.
- Not post content that could damage the reputation of the Club, its members or the game of rugby.
- Respect the privacy of others before sharing photographs or personal information.
- Raise concerns through appropriate Club channels rather than online arguments.
Equality and Diversity

Safeguarding
All members share responsibility for creating a safe environment.
Concerns relating to the welfare of children or adults at risk should be reported promptly to a member of the Club Committee or the appropriate safeguarding officer.
Committee and Volunteers
Committee members and volunteers are expected to:
- Lead by example.
- Act fairly, honestly and transparently.
- Make decisions in the best interests of the Club.
- Manage Club affairs responsibly.
- Respect confidentiality where appropriate.
- Avoid conflicts of interest.
Representing the Club
Whether wearing Club kit, attending fixtures or participating online, members are expected to represent Surbiton Decca RFC in a positive manner.
Members should remember that their actions reflect upon teammates, volunteers and the wider rugby community.
Breaches of the Code
Where behaviour falls below the standards expected by the Club, the Committee may investigate the matter fairly and proportionately.
Depending on the circumstances, action may include:
- Informal discussion or advice.
- A formal warning.
- Suspension from Club activities.
- Removal of membership in accordance with the Club Constitution.
Members have the right to appeal any decision regarding refusal or removal of membership as set out in the Constitution.
